New CD Released 'Jazz Mugham Bridges'

Jazz Mugham Bridges, featuring American Voices' Mike Del Ferro, pianist and Stian Carstensen, accordionist, has just been released. The CD features seven live performances from our June 15th concert in Baku with professional and student musicians from the Baku Music School and the State Museum of Azerbaijan Musical Culture.
This CD is the culmination of three years of collaborations in Baku with Azerbaijani traditional musicians and American Voices jazz artists at our Caspian Jazz and Blues Festival 2002, 2003, and 2004. The Azerbaijani musicians play a wide selection of the nation's traditional instruments ranging from the Tar and Dumbek to the Duduk, Garmon, Kamancha and Balaban. Also notable are the exceptional vocals provided two young soloists of the Baku Music School.
The professional musicians of the State Museum feature National artists such as Rafael Islamov, Munis Sharifov, Fuad Jafarov and Emin dadashev.
The gala concert took place at the Baku Philharmonic Hall with the support of The U.S. and Norwegian Embassies, Turkish Petroleum, Statoil and Unocal and the Unocal Foundation.
The recording can only be obtained in Baku through a donation to the State Museum of Azerbaijan Musical Culture or by making a donation to American Voices on this website.
