Alfredo Austin is from Newark, DE and found his voice at an early age singing in church choir. He went to the University of Delaware where he graduated with a Music Business degree. After a cappella quintet The Exchange finished as finalists on Season 5 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” becoming favorites of America’s a cappella community, a core trio came together to form dynamic vocal pop group Freedom’s Boombox. The group quickly developed an international following as they took a cappella to all corners of the globe, singing on an American Music Abroad tour through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan in 2016 and touring four continents in under six months with the Backstreet Boys after their debut album release, Modern Vinyl (2017). Freedom’s Boombox is highly awarded, including Best Original Song (“Gone”) of the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (2016) and Best Lead, Beatbox, and Presentation of Vocal Asia (2012). Alfredo, the group’s lead vocalist, has worked for Sony, NBC, Warner, and Universal writing, recording, mastering, and arranging music for television, movies, and albums.
