Break of Reality
Biography
Cello rock band Break of Reality, comprised of three cellists and a drummer, formed in 2003 at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. After its members graduated, Break of Reality began to travel nationally, giving hundreds of performances across the country at performing arts centers, colleges, rock clubs, and music festivals.
Along with performing, the group has written and performed original music that has been featured in national television programs, including Dateline NBC and America’s Investigative Reports on PBS, which went on to win an Emmy. Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Forbes Magazine have featured Break of Reality in recent articles regarding internet radio, a medium that produces over 20 million streams a year for the band.
Break of Reality is also committed to music education; the band has performed at hundreds of public schools across the country, encouraging music students to explore all types of genres on their instruments. The band is also an advocate for music entrepreneurship and has developed the Break of Reality DIY Lecture Series, which was designed to empower budding classical musicians with practical, real world music business knowledge.
