Biography

OSCAR WILLIAMS AND THE BAND OF LIFE (St. Louis, MO/Dallas, TX) is a group of professional singers who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the world through the singing of Gospel music and music that inspires. Oscar Williams formed the band in 2000 and they have traveled extensively through the United States, South America, Europe and parts of Asia. Their freshman CD, Unstoppable, charted on billboard’s top 40 Gospel albums its first week. They are currently in production of their new album, Life, set to release in the fall of 2013.

OSCAR WILLIAMS (Piano/Vocal) is an award winning artist, composer and musician. He has his undergraduate degree in Music with an emphasis in Piano and a Masters in Music Composition. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management. He has traveled extensively abroad performing in over 20 different countries to audiences of over 100,000 people. He has worked with and shared the stage with artiss like: Elisa, Jason Mraz, Kirk Franklin, Dion Warwick, Lauryn Hill, Tamela Mann and many more. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Music for Bishop TD Jakes at the Potters House church as well as Visiting Lecturer and acting Professor at Texas College.

BLANCHE McALLISTER-DYKES (Vocal) became a psalmist and actress at a young age, and has been blessed to work with some of the biggest names in the Gospel industry. In 2002 Blanche began singing with legendary Gospel artist Donald Lawrence, and she has been featured on several Donald Lawrence & Company albums. Blanche has also provided background vocals for various artists, including Karen Clark-Sheard, The Clark Sisters, Pastor Marvin Sapp, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Kim Burrell, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Mary Mary. As an actress Blanche has appeared in David Payton’s “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” and Donald Lawrence’s “Bible Stories.”  In 2010 she added film to her repertoire by being featured in the movie “Church: the Movie.” Blanche is the wife of Mr. Andru Dykes and gift mother to Keandra Robinson.

DETRAYSHIA SMITH (Vocal) is known in the industry as a vocal powerhouse. She is quickly becoming a major name in the Music industry. She has appeared on American Idol making it to the finals. She was the grand prize winner for the Inspirational Networks reality show, Next Star, where she walked away with a recording contract and a cash prize. She also was the top amateur winner at the famed Apollo Theater in New York for 2 weeks in a row. Detrayshia is currently working on her degree in Education and plans to complete her freshman album, Fall 2013.

DORRIAN NEYMOUR (Vocal) is known in the industry as a triple threat. She can act, sing and dance. She began performing at an early age in her church choir and soon was traveling and singing all over the city. At the age of 18, she was cast in the hit gospel stage play, Be Careful What you Pray For, where she played the leading role. This was the top grossing tour for the year of 2004. Dorrian has traveled extensively through the United States as well as abroad singing and performing with many great artists. She currently completely her Bachelors Degree in Education and has formed her own Arts Institute.

CECELIA BROWN (Vocal)  “Ashley” as she is affectionately called is known as a vocal powerhouse. Since the age of 4, she as been singing gospel music and is currently working on her freshman album to be released in the summer of 2014. She has traveled with famed artist such as Hezekiah Walker, Kirk Franklin and Liz McComb. She has been featured on over 10 albums that have gone on to sell thousands of records. She currently serves as the Director of Music for the Lighthouse Apostolic Church.
