Welcome to YES Academy Lebanon 2023!

Lebanon’s only international performing arts program featuring faculty from America’s best Universities and Symphony Orchestras. This year’s tuition fee will again be free. However, those who are able to make a donation of $50 or above are welcome to make this donation in cash in USD or LBP during the Academy.

This summer we will be working in-person at USEK’s Faculty of Music, Kaslik. Limited scholarships are available upon request for dormitory rooms and help with transportation expenses for those living far from Kaslik.

The 2023 program: Children’s Orchestra and Piano, Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music, Advanced Piano, Composition, String Pedagogy, Songwriting, Broadway/Cabaret, and Conducting.

Children’s Orchestra (ages 10-14): Maestro Steven Stark will lead the Children’s Orchestra daily from 9 am to 11:45 am. All applying must send a short audition video of 30-60 seconds by whatsapp. Younger than 10 years may be accepted based on ability.
Children’s Piano (ages 10-14): the Children’s Piano program will be held daily with
Alison Shamlian Barr from 9 am to 11:45 am. Participation limited to 12 students. All applying must send a short audition video of 30-60 seconds by whatsapp. Younger than 10 years may be accepted based on ability.
Advanced Orchestra: Maestro Dr. Edward Kawakami will lead the Advanced Orchestra daily from 1 pm to 4pm.
Advanced Piano: Up to 8 pianists will be accepted to study with Pianist and Director John Ferguson, along with Elie Sawma, and Alison Shamalian Barr in a program of group and private piano lessons, masterclasses, technique and piano literature, duets, and chamber music with strings, for our Advanced Pianists.
Composition: There will be group classes and private lessons in composition with

Steven Stark daily from 1 pm to 5 pm. All completed compositions will be read, critiqued and recorded by YES Faculty.

Chamber Music: Cellist Andres Vera, member of Quartet San Francisco, will be coaching Chamber Music groups daily from 10am to 12 noon and from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
String Pedagogy: Daily applied practical String Pedagogy lessons with Steven Stark from 9 am to 11:45 am.
Songwriting: Steven Stark offers three group Songwriting lessons from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Conducting: Dr. Edward Kawakami will be giving two group Conducting lessons. Dates and hours to be determined.
Broadway: up to 10 Broadway vocalists will be selected to create a Broadway Revue in cabaret style featuring solos, duets and ensemble pieces from your favorite Broadway shows. Led by pianist, John Ferguson daily from 5-7pm.
